The Center for Health Research Northwest
Located in Portland, Oregon, CHR Northwest (CHR-NW) includes more than 60 dedicated
investigators who conduct research within the Kaiser Permanente Northwest (KPNW)
health and dental care programs. CHR-NW research includes a full spectrum of health
care innovation. CHR-NW pursues a vigorous agenda of patient-centered, population,
and practice-based research. We are a multidisciplinary institution with researchers
in areas such as epidemiology, health services delivery, biostatistics, informatics,
economics, genetics, nutrition, preventive medicine, mental health, and public health.
The Northwest office is also home to an accomplished technical and administrative
staff that support researchers in the Hawaii and Southeast offices. Specialized
staff is available to assist with recruitment, behavioral interventions, medical
record abstraction, proposal development, contract management, writing and editing,
graphic design, and literature searches.
CHR-NW researchers publish their peer-reviewed results in the public domain and
distribute them to the worldwide healthcare community. Collaborative partnerships
with front-line researchers and institutions worldwide enhance the international
relevance of our work. CHR-NW’s research is funded through competitive grants and
contracts from the federal government, private foundations, and the health care
industry.
