Budgeting
A carefully crafted and well-defined budget is essential both in receiving initial funding and in carrying out the research plan after funding is secured. All budgets for research activities submitted through CHR need to be developed jointly by the investigator, CHR departmental managers, and the CHR Financial Services Office. CHR financial staff have access to current KP salaries and fringe benefit rates, facilities and administrative costs, materials and travel costs. This will ensure that the budget you develop is both accurate and adequate. Additionally, CHR department managers can provide expertise in the type of staff and levels of effort necessary to carry out your research design. This
process should begin as early as possible after the proposal is sufficiently
developed to allow accurate budgeting, and definitely no later than 4-6 weeks
prior to the planned submission date.
