Dr. Vupputuri is an epidemiologist with research interests in cardiovascular disease and chronic kidney disease epidemiology. She also studies social inequalities in the burden of disease and health care, quality of care, and patient outcomes. She has worked on many large, population-based studies including the Atherosclerosis Risk in Communities Study, The Strong Heart Study, and the National Health and Nutrition Examination Surveys.
Dr. Vupputuri is currently working with David Smith on a project examining quality performance measurement in chronic kidney disease.
Dr. Vupputuri received her doctoral and masters degrees in epidemiology from Tulane University School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine. She completed a 2-year post-doctoral fellowship at the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences studying environmental risk factors for chronic diseases.
In addition to her position at CHR, Dr. Vupputuri is an Adjunct Assistant Professor
of Epidemiology with the Rollins School of Public Health at Emory University. She
has previously held faculty positions in the Department of Epidemiology at the University
of North Carolina School of Public Health and the University of North Carolina Kidney
Center.
