What's New - Download Site For Adolescent Coping With Depression Course

We are pleased to make available for downloading our group, cognitive-behavioral intervention for the treatment of adolescent depression: the Adolescent Coping With Depression (CWD-A) Course.

This site is now the only method for obtaining copies of the CWD-A program. We no longer distribute paper copies of these programs.

This treatment, called the Adolescent Coping With Depression (CWD-A) Course, has been employed in two successful outcome studies to date (Clarke et al., 1999; Lewinsohn et al., 1990). A variation of this program has also been successfully employed (Kahn et al., 1990).

These treatment manuals are similar to our prevention program manuals for the Adolescent Coping With Stress Course. However, the prevention materials are not yet available for download.

Instructions for Downloading

There are two files to download (see below). Both are necessary in order to conduct the treatment program. The two documents are (a) the manual for therapists (group leaders) and (b) the workbook for adolescents. Each therapist will need a manual, and each youth in the group will need his/her own workbook. Download each document once, and then photocopy the needed number of documents.

Each document is relatively large and should take some time to download. We strongly suggest downloading these files from a computer with a high speed Internet connection. High speed connections are typically found at work locations, public libraries, etc.

In order to view and print these files, you must install on your computer the Adobe Acrobat reader software. This is a free software add-in to your Internet browser and can be obtained by clicking on the "Get Acrobat Reader" button below:

Printing Recommendations

We recommend that you print these files on the highest resolution printer you have available (at least 600 dpi). The printer must be capable of rendering Post-Script Level 2 instructions.

Photocopy and Use

We encourage you to employ this treatment program in your own research and/or clinical practice. Although the manuals are copyrighted, we are suspending copyright limitations of the Adolescent Coping with Depression Course so that you can make duplicate copies of the adolescent workbook. However, you are prohibited from selling the program or distributing it in order to make a profit.
