What's New - Oregon Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine (OCCAM) CHR establishes a center to study non-conventional therapies in craniofacial disorders Under a grant from the National Institutes of Health, Kaiser Permanente Center for Health Research established OCCAM in 1999. OCCAM brings together researchers and practitioners from conventional medicine and alternative therapies in an unprecedented partnership. Its principal mission is to apply the tools of scientific inquiry to non-conventional approaches to treating difficult craniofacial disorders. In addition to CHR, OCCAM consists of the following organizations:
OCCAM’s first two projects focus on periodontal disease and temporomandibular joint disorder, or TMD, using traditional Chinese medicine, chiropractic, naturopathic medicine, and conventional treatments. (If you'd like to read more, see the news release in PDF.) |
