What's New - 13th Saward Lecture

David Lawrence, MD, Spoke on the Future of Health Care at 13th Saward Lecture

(PORTLAND, Ore.) - Retiring Kaiser Permanente Chairman and Chief Executive Officer David Lawrence, MD, spoke in Portland on the future of American health care delivery on Wednesday, Sept. 4, 2002. A graduate of Beaverton High School, former health officer with Multnomah County, Peace Corps volunteer, and advisor to the Chilean Ministry of Health, Dr. Lawrence for the past 10 years has headed the eight-million member Kaiser Permanente health care organization. He returned to Portland to deliver the 13th Saward Lecture for Kaiser Permanente's Center for Health Research. His talk, "From Chaos to Care: The Future of Medical Care Delivery," took place at the Newmark Theatre inside the Portland Center for the Performing Arts.
