Lee Kelly
Education:
Vanport University, Portland (1949-51);
Museum Art School, Portland (1954-59) Biography:
Kelly helped foster Portland's art scene in the 1960s and 1970s. He began as an
abstract painter and turned to metal sculpture, often painting it with bright,
gestural brushstrokes. He was a visiting professor of art at Reed College in
Portland from 1976-79. In 1987 he received the Governor's Award for the Arts.
