Harry E. Widman
Education:
Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center (1950);
Syracuse University (1951) University of Oregon (1956) Biography:
Widman moved to Eugene to attend a graduate program at the University of
Oregon. He taught extension service classes in painting in Coos Bay from
1956-60. In 1958, after moving to Roseburg, he accepted similar teaching
positions in Port Orford, Roseburg, and Grants Pass. At the University of
Oregon he was exposed to the Willamette Valley style, inspired by Cézanne and
based on color theory and interaction. Later in his career, Widman was a
teacher, and then dean, at the Museum Art School in Portland.
