Population-based HMO Study of Gout Pharmacoepidemiology-GOUT

represent 6-7% of males over the age of 65 years. Gout is commonly under treated and patients with chronic recurrent gout are not receiving medications to prevent future attacks. These attacks lead to significant gout–related health issues, including pain, joint damage, and chronic use of anti-inflammatory medications, which have substantial toxicity in older people.
