Residual risk of cardiovascular disease in patients treated under standard care

Gregory A. Nichols, Principal Investigator

Pharmaceutical therapies, such as statins, ACE Inhibitors, aspirin and other anti-platelets, have proven effective for patients at risk of cardiovascular disease (CVD). Nevertheless, CVD events still occur, even with intensive treatment. Such residual risk has not been specifically quantified. This study is intended to quantify the risk and cost associated with residual CVD among patients with a previous history of coronary artery disease receiving the current standard of care.
