Researchers Brief Lawmakers on Network Findings

The Work-Family Health Network participated in a Congressional briefing on October 13th to spread the word about the health benefits of a supportive workplace and the need for more innovative research in this area. To a standing room only audience, Network researchers presented preliminary findings from all four pilot studies.

The briefing, entitled “Workplace Practice, Health and Well-Being: Initial Research Findings from the Work, Family & Health Network,” was sponsored by the offices of Senator Tom Harkin (IA-D) and Congressman Earl Blumenauer (OR-D) and arranged by Workplace Flexibility 2010, located at Georgetown University Law Center.  Attendees at the briefing were very interested in hearing from the researchers about what companies and employees could do to improve employee health and the workplace. Researchers stressed that any changes need to be evidenced based and that change needs to happen at the level of entire companies or workplaces, rather than at the individual level.
